Hello, I'm James.
I'm a Certified Level 2 Precision Nutrition Coach and a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer.

I specialize in working with high performers, including stay-at-home parents who juggle demanding careers, family life, and everything in between to achieve their weight loss and health objectives.
My Story
For 18 years, I worked in network news - the majority, as a producer chasing stories with a front row seat to some amazing people and events - some of them historical, some of them devastating, and many of them awe inspiring. Whether it was covering breaking news, natural disasters, intimate celebrity interviews, or witnessing history, the pace was exhilarating and the experiences unforgettable.

The one common thread that always struck me was how fluid the world is and how everything is susceptible to change.

It was exciting and meaningful work, but it was also exhausting. The reactionary nature of being at the forefront of telling other people’s stories often meant my own took a backseat. My priorities would shift drastically with every news event, and the pressing demands of the job would lead to personal neglect.

Life took a turn when I embraced the joys of marriage and fatherhood. The birth of my daughter was a pivotal moment in my life. While work had always been a dominant force, the added responsibilities of being a parent made me realize how much I was missing out on. As the early milestones of my daughter's life whisked by, it became increasingly clear that while I was deeply engrossed in documenting the world's stories, my own narrative was passing me by.

Driven by a desire to be an active participant in my own story and fueled by a passion for health and wellness, I made the life-altering decision to leave my news career and open up a boutique fitness studio which we ran for several years before exiting post pandemic. The goal was to help others, like me, find their balance, prioritize their health, and actively partake in writing their next chapters. That mission continues with our work at Fuelsoul Wellness.

Fuelsoul is not just a company but a belief - the belief that each one of us has a unique and compelling story and the ability to change it. It’s the union of my journalistic instincts and my dedication to health. My philosophy is simple: when we ask the right questions and genuinely listen, we can uncover aspects of ourselves that can catalyze transformative change.
I’ve been every shape and size throughout my life, grappled with the whirlwind demands of a job that had its fair share of travel and suitcase living, and faced the balancing act of being a spouse, father, friend, and more while performing at a high level at a demanding job. I know the challenges of wanting to redefine your body and mind while juggling a myriad of roles. I also understand what it feels to be overwhelmed, frustrated, and alone in the process.

And that's where my expertise shines. I specialize in guiding high-performers, like you, who wish to rediscover their inner athlete, or perhaps re-introduce themselves to the person they left behind. You know, the one that took a backseat as they put other people and projects first. I understand the struggles to get leaner, stronger, healthier, and happier because I’ve been there too.

At the end of the day, it’s not about comparing ourselves to others, or fitting a mold, or meeting a societal standard or pre-conceived notion about what it means to be “fit” or “healthy.” It's about YOUR individual goals, YOUR unique aspirations, and how we can get there together.

One thing I know for sure is that it’s never too late to rewrite your story.
I'd love to help you do it.
After all, there's nothing I love more than a good comeback.
